| D | Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome is the kind of sleep disorder, which is connected with the person’s Circadian Rhythm. This condition is considered to result from the endogenous circadian pacemaker being so – to – say “stuck” at a later – than – normal phase, which is relative to the desired sleep – wake schedule.
Deep Sleep has to with the combined non – REM sleep stages 3 and 4.
Delayed Sleep Phase – it is a sleep disorder, when the longer sleep episode occurs to be delayed by two or even more hours of the desired bedtime. In the result of a person may experience awakening difficulty at the time, he or she would like to. To the most common symptoms of this sleep disorder belong: Insomnia or excessive sleepiness; Depression; Inability to fall asleep, just as well as to wake up at the desired time.
Delta Sleep is the name of the stage of sleep, when EEG delta waves are either prevalent or predominant. It usually occurs during sleep stages 3 and 4. This stage of sleep is characterized by slowing down dramatically from the “theta” rhythm of sleep stage 2 to a much slower rhythm of 1 to 2 cycles per second, which is called “delta” and the height or amplitude of the waves get increased dramatically. In most healthy people these two sleep stages occur to be completed within the first two 90 minutes sleep cycles or within the first three hours of sleep. It is considered to be the delta sleep, which is the “deepest” stage of sleep, and which is the most restorative stage of sleep as
Delta Waves are called brain waves, which occur with a frequency of 1 up to 3 hertz, and they emanate from the forward portion of the brain during the deep sleep stage in healthy adult people.
Desynchronization is called lack of alignments between external signals and the biological clock of a person.
Diagnostic Sleep Study is the procedure, which involves the monitoring of several physiological activities of a person. As a rule it is conducted with the aim of determining the absence or presence of any kind of sleep disorder.
Drowsiness means the same as sleepiness. It may be cause by several factors: by some drugs, by tiredness, by lack of strength, by low blood pressure, etc.
